iWeb First To Launch Guaranteed Managed Cloud Hosting Service

The service guarantees disk speed, system management, availability and other elements often stated as barriers to Cloud adoption.

MONTREAL, May 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - Canada-based infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) leader iWeb announces the launch of a fully-managed Cloud hosting service based on OpenStack®.

The managed Cloud service is the first OpenStack public cloud deployment in Canada and the first in the industry to provide guaranteed disk speed as a standard, a key element of overall system performance. The other key components of this breakthrough service are worry-free system management, rapid deployment, Cloud elasticity, scalability and soon, a robust application-programming interface (API).

"This service would not have been technologically possible even 12 months ago," says Mike Gero, Director of Product Management. "When we looked at the market we couldn't find a cloud that met all our customers' needs.  By engineering this cloud with the best vendors and technologies, we are delivering something I am sure customers will enjoy and competitors will envy. We truly believe this will meet our customer's performance, availability and support requirements. Due to our use of SSD drives our standard disk performance is on average 2x that of other Cloud providers and the security of customer data is maintained with data replication and redundancy."

Openstack infrastructure + iWeb's network + Solid state disk drives (SSD)
= Guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS)

iWeb's managed Cloud service is possible because it is provisioned on a QoS-enabled centralized block storage engineered exclusively with SSD drives. It is connected to iWeb's rock solid network1 and utilizes "Grizzly", the most up-to-date version of Openstack.  Initial deployments of the service are fully-managed solutions, built with the latest generation of processors, memory and CentOS Linux.  This is the first in a series of iWeb cloud products based on Openstack.  Several additional services are planned for the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2013.

According to iWeb President and COO Christian Primeau, "This is the cloud that our customers have asked for and our staff has been very excited to develop, test and now deploy.  It removes all the barriers for customers wishing to upgrade to a Cloud infrastructure. Reliability is built into iWeb's DNA and this Cloud guarantees superior performance without sacrificing reliability. We are extremely proud of what we have built and pleased to bring it to the market."

According to Forrester Research, every business will become either a digital predator or digital prey by 2020. To avoid demise, organizations must rapidly create new sources of value in their end-to-end customer experiences. True digital predators also must break down information and process silos and extend digital transformation initiatives to empower employees with the digital resources needed to win, serve, and retain customers.
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
