LTS2 from EVault Takes Cloud Storage Services by Storm

Public cloud storage services are growing and they're growing fast. The latest estimate from IDC says that it may hit nearly $15 billion in revenue in the next three years. New service providers are pushing unique and innvative offerings, and established providers are retooling and remarketing existing solutions in order to maintain and increase their slice of this pie.

One of the areas expected to grow at an especially rapid pace is long-term storage. In the area of LTS, EVault is right there waiting to meet customers where they're at and give them the affordable solutions that they really need.

EVault’s latest offering

EVault is no stranger to the storage world. For more than 15 years, EVault has served tens of thousands of customers from SMBs all the way up to large enterprises. Acquired by Seagate some time ago, EVault is positioned to be a leader in storage for a long time to come.

In December 2013, EVault announced its latest storage solution to the business community. This infrastructure-as-a-service solution id specifically aimed at data that organizations need to retain for years, rather than weeks or months. Dubbed Long-Term Storage, or LTS2, this solution promises to wow customers.

Built around the concept of long-term preservation

evault lts2EVault designed this new solution around the needs of organizations to store data over long periods. LTS2 utilizes a disk-based solution and is built upon OpenStack Swift (the OpenStack object-storage platform). EVault has been one of the main contributors to the OpenStack Foundation, so this particular platform choice should come as no surprise.

A unique solution built on OpenStack Swift

Several elements set LTS2 apart from other solutions built on Swift, including:

  • Custom object integrity checking using a digital fingerprint to provide ongoing data health checks
  • Event tracking that includes access and management events.
  • Metadata management using key-value pairs attached to the objects.
  • A data reporting interface providing administrators with access patterns and expense-aligned digital asset value.

In addition, EVault offers a comprehensive set of SLAs that you won’t find in other long-term storage solutions. Some of these include:

  • Durability that proactively compensates for data loss
  • Availability that proactively compensates for unavailability
  • Data survivorship that protects your data from service termination
  • One-time data transfer with no extra fees to insure data portability

For those organizations that want to handle their long term storage needs in as efficient a way as possible, LTS2 from EVault is a strong choice.
